Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy and Cha Cha Real Smooth’s Cooper Raiff come together in this effervescent, tender-hearted, refreshingly modern spin on the romantic comedy. Written by Schitt’s Creek executive producer David West Read and directed by Scarlett Bermingham and Andrew Rhymer (Plus One), the Toronto-set All That She Wants chronicles a casual encounter between a millennial and a Gen Zer — and the life-altering consequences that result.

Reeling from a painful breakup, thirtysomething Emma (Murphy) decides to nurse her wounds with a night out clubbing. That’s how she meets the cute, charismatic, and notably younger Luke (Raiff). It isn’t until the next morning that the pair’s age gap fully hits: Emma, it turns out, was once Luke’s babysitter.

After this emphatically one-off hookup, Emma turns a page, forging a new career path and deciding, regardless of her relationship status, that she wants children. Luke, meanwhile, has a funny way of reappearing in Emma’s life on a semi-regular basis. Might he be a sperm donor? Might he be something more?

All That She Wants has all anyone could want in a rom-com: it’s sexy, hilarious, and disarmingly perceptive about long-term entanglements and the trickiness of balancing independence and attachments. It features a superb supporting cast that includes Girls’ Zosia Mamet and Mamma Mia!’s Christine Baranski, and works as a welcome showcase for Murphy — one of Canada’s most remarkable talents.
